Richard Long

  • Poetic idea
  • He makes sculptures by walking to places (the audience therefore has to interact with this by going to these places that he’s set up) but they do not last long
  • He uses mediums of photography, text and maps of landscapes he has walked over
  • The landscapes would be deliberately changed in some way to form his work. Sometimes sculptures were made in the landscapes from rocks or similar found materials and then photographed – but then does the viewer get the same satisfaction as seeing the art in it’s true form rather than a photograph?
